Cool Optical Illusion

Just thought this was cool.

If you take a look at the following picture, it is not animated. Your eyes are making it move. To test this, stare at one spot for a couple seconds and everything will stop moving. Or look at the black center of each circle and it will stop moving. But move your eyes to the next black center and the previous will move after you take your eyes away from it.... Weird

Web 2.0 Project

UVI put together a project last summer for ITS to encourage staff to explore new technologies by completing "23 Things".

Learning 2.0 was an online learning program that encouraged staff to learn more about emerging technologies on the web that are changing the way people, society, organizations, institutions, libraries, and patrons access information and communicate with each other. During the course, there was “23 Things” and discovery exercises to help staff become familiar with blogging, RSS news feeds, tagging, wikis, podcasting, online applications, and video and image hosting sites.

Even though the summer project is over, I have been given the opportunity to complete the project at my own pace. So I will be posting items to this blog for each of the tasks to keep track of my progress through the course.

Introduction

My husband and I decided several years ago that we wanted to move to St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. The only problem was, we needed to find a way to support our lifestyle and not go broke in the process. Ideas would come and go and time would pass and the dream would fade. Then we would vacation in St. Thomas and the dream would come back to life. Finally after lots and lots of research and lots and lots of patience, the dream became a reality. We both got nice jobs, found excellent housing, and made the move. We started a blog about making the move and all the information we had found during our research. We post to it daily so that our friends and family can keep up with what is going on....they love it. It also makes it easier on us because we don't have to send emails and letters to everyone telling them how we are doing; they just read the blog and leave us comments. It's great! Blogging is an excellent idea and I'm so glad the technology exists. I still have so much more to learn about it and that's why I'm so excited about UVI giving me the opportunity to explore more about blogging and Web 2.0.
